Ro-Clean Desmi is a joint venture company set up in 1996 by two of the most respected oil spill control equipment manufacturers in the world, who have a first class reputation acquired over 27 years continuous involvement in the industry involving responses to most of the major oil spill incidents around the world.

RoClean Logo

Ro-Clean Desmi supplies one of the most comprehensive ranges of proven oil spill control products available in the world today. In excess of 500 000 metres of Ro-Boom and 1 300 DESMI screw pumps have been supplied to customers in more than 100 countries for many diverse applications. There is a wide range of Booms, Skimmers, Pumps and Power Packs.

The range of booms includes Ro-Boom, Troil-Boom, and Ro-Fence, all supplied in different sizes and thus covering the full range of applications from rough open sea conditions to inshore sheltered waters, lakes, canals, and rivers.

Standard Ro-Boom is available in continuous section lengths up to 400 metres and in 9 overall widths of between 0.61 to 3.5 metres with stainless steel hinge and pin or ASTM connectors. Lloyds Certified, 200 metres of Ro-Boom was fully deployed in less than 9 minutes and fully recovered in 10 minutes.

Troilboom high quality solid buoyancy fence booms are available in overall widths from 0.45 to 1.5 metres, and fitted with either ā€˜U’ bolt or ASTM quick connectors and galvanised ballast chain in reinforced skirt pockets. Models exist to suit applications from lakes and rivers to coastal and offshore situations. Unique 100% closed cell foam buoyancy panels that cannot get waterlogged. Standard versions are in 650 grams/m2 and heavy duty in 1000 grams/m2 PVC/Nitrile impregnated polyester weave fabric.

Ro-Fence is a heavy duty solid float high stability fence boom designed for very long term unattended deployment in inland and protected coastal waters and in refinery and industrial separators, lagoons, desalination and power station seawater intakes. Standard widths are 0.61 and 0.9 metres. Ro-Fence is also suitable for containment or deflection of garbage, vegetation, jellyfish, and many other pollutants.

Skimmers and Pumps

Reliability and superb performance, often in arduous operating conditions, characterise the DESMI range of skimmers and pumps. The range of oils they can pump is truly impressive from 0 to 1 million Cst. The new injection flanges significantly reduce pressure loss and enable the pumps to move even more viscous products such as bitumen.

Based on a unique Desmi vertical Archimedean screw design, these submersible pumps can deliver mixtures of oil and water at rates of 30 to 125 m3/hr at discharge pressures of up to 10 bar. They are very effective on a wide range of products that can be found in a spill, including high viscosity oils, emulsions and industrial sludge. The internal cutting knives enable these pumps to handle trash and debris normally found on spill sites.

The high performance Desmi skimmers are suitable for offshore, coastal, inshore and industrial spills. They are fitted with a self adjusting weir that automatically adjusts the weir position according to the pumping rate. This allows them to recover light and heavy oils with minimal water content.

As an option Desmi Skimmers can be fitted with selective recovery units such as a Disk, Belt, and Brush cassette. These cassettes enhance recovery capabilities of the weir and with the internal Desmi pump allows the skimmed product to be delivered over a significant distance to storage.

The Mini-Max is a lightweight floating weir skimmer head with recovery rates to 30m3/hr, designed for inshore, inland, and industrial applications. It can be coupled to suitable suction pumps or to a vacuum system such as the Ro-Vac.

The Terrapin is a lightweight self adjusting weir oil skimmer ideal for installation in industrial separators, wells, tanks, and sumps, with recovery to 10m3/hr.

There is also a range of well proven oleophilic mop skimmers; versions are available to suit industrial, inland and marine applications. Will recover a wide range of oil types and viscosities from kerosene to emulsified crudes and oily wastes, with very low free water content. Available with diesel, hydraulic, electric or air drive motors, from 1.5 to 18m3/hr.
