Surge Protection For Telecommunications and Industry
IAC has been active in surge protection since its inception more than thirty years ago when it started to represent Joslyn Electronic Systems of Goleta, Cal in 1971.
Joslyn had first produced high power HF antenna arrestors for the USAF, and these still protect Air Force One, AWAC’s surveillance aircraft, and Boeing 747’s and Airbus’s using HF radios. Applications have since spread to other areas, notably to telephone gas tubes, which have become widely used all over the world, the Joslyn name being synonymous with quality and performance. Customer demand then saw the production of protectors for data transmission which use gas tube technology. Finally AC and DC power supply protectors were developed.
More recently, under the ownership of Danaher Corporation, the organisation of these diverse products has been rationalised. Joslyn AC and DC protectors are now manufactured at a new facility in Richmond, Virginia, alongside other Danaher TVSS products. The aircraft antenna arrestors are produced by a sister company Pacific Scientific EKD in Carpinteria, Cal, just a few miles from the old Goleta site. The gas tube division with all the gas tube based products has been sold to Bourns Inc. Manufacture has been moved to Costa Rica, to add competitive edge to the high quality product range.
Besides representing the above three companies, IAC has been working closely with UK based Surgetech. Surgetech has been offering innovative special devices based on gas tubes for many years, producing ‘niche’ products for which demand existed but insufficient for cost effective production by bigger companies. IAC, in collaboration with Surgetech can provide bespoke and innovative solutions to a wide range of protection problems.
Lately IAC also offers lightning conductor systems based on French Early Streamer Emmission (ESE) technology, to give effective economic lightning protection systems for buildings. The Pouyet products we propose are based on years of testing and field experience.
