Surgetech
Surgetech offers a range of specialised protection products based on gas tube technology. Three pole Bourns gas tubes are used in 4 pair and 5 pair MDF71 system magazines and 8 pair 2000 system magazines. These magazines can be supplied with or without failsafe and also can accommodate diodes in parallel with the gas tubes to give hybrid protection. This innovative design allows gas tubes to be replaced if necessary rather than replacing entire magazines due to one or two tubes failing.

Simple hybrids, diodes in parallel with gas tubes, offer much lower impulse breakdown than a gas tube alone. These are available as the SUR22 range using standard Bourns 8mm dia tubes. The downside is 200 pF capacitance, making this device unsuitable for high speed digital applications. The SUR23 however, overcomes this problem, using a diode network with the Bourns mini tube and giving less than 10 pF capacitance. It is eminently suitable for xDSL lines. These high performance hybrids can be supplied in a station protector package, using the two pair SUR12 box. Thus we can offer a variety of protection solutions for ISDN, ADSL, modem protection, sensitive electronic equipment installations such as weigh bridges.
