Pacific Scientific EKD

Produces antenna surge arrestors and special protectors formerly manufactured by Joslyn. This includes large glass arrestors mainly used in aircraft HF radio antenna protection and produced according to US MIL standards and in accordance with Boeing, Rockwell and Collins specifications. These arrestors are also used in a variety of other applications such as high power broadcast, Decca main chain navigation systems, and vehicle radio positioning systems.

Models such as F5014-15 provide feedthrough protectors flange fitted at the passage of the antenna conductor through the radio shelter wall to the outside.

The 1903 family of arrestors is compact as a unit accepting 150 KA 8/20 or 10 shots 100KA. It is widely used on antenna masts around Europe, and can be supplied from 200V to 13KV dc sparkover. Many power supply filters have used this gas tube in series with a non linear resistor to provide first stage protection. This is the 71890, which can be supplied as a complete unit.

The 1251 family is a more compact, lower rated, fast acting AC arrestor. It is cylindrical in shape with low inductance connection bolts each side, making it suitable for high speed NEMP applications. It is a gas tube plus series MOV device.
